BIOGRAPHY

Anita Sharma has conquered an enviable place in the world of Satriya, an exquisite
dance form of Assam. A rare blend of beauty, brains and grace, she devoted herself to
learn Satriya dance under Padmashree Nrityacharya Jatin Goswami.

She has a compelling and arresting stage presence with a rare combination of intensity
and spontaneity. Born in Guwahati, Assam, she started learning Satriya dance at the age
of nine under the tutelage of Late Guru Roseswar Saikia Barbayan, an awardee of
Sangeet Natak Akademy. She also has been trained in the art of Odissi by Late Guru
Padmabibhusan Kelucharan Mahapatra at Bhubaneswar.

She is an ‘A’ graded artist of Doordarshan. She has been awarded a two years of Junior
Fellowship by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Deptt. Of Culture, Govt. of
India for the year 2005-2007. She is an empanelled artist of the I.C.C.R. She has
performed at most of the important festivals within the country and has presented her
art in U.K. and U.S.A.
