Alaknanda Institute for Performing Arts (AIPA) was established in 1990 with the sole purpose of promoting classical art and culture to the society. Since then, AIPA has been successfully pursuing this vision for over two decades. The Organisation has earned the reputation of being a devoted professional academy and also for training disciples into scholarship holders in the field of Kathak, Hindustani Vocal Music, Tabla, Guitar, Keyboard and Fine Arts.
AIPA's choreographic troupe called ‘Alaknanda Sanskriti’, under able guidance of Nrityashri Alaknanda, has been successfully performing in India (New Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Banaras,etc) and abroad (S. Korea, Poland, UK, USA, Singapore, Maldives, Holland, The Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland etc).
AIPA also takes prides in organizing various dance workshops by eminent artists and hosting numerous popular dance Festivals in India such as:
1. Indo European Dance Festival (already into its 5th year of running)
2. Global Cultural Dance Festival (3rd year of running)
3. Natraj Festival (2nd year of running)
Nrityashri Alaknanda is the Founder, Director, and Kathak Guru at Alaknanda Institute of Performing Arts (AIPA). She is an alumini of Kathak Kendra, National School of Kathak Dance, India. She is credited with various awards and honours for her proficiency and contribution to the field of classical culture, such as: 'Singarmani', ‘Nritya Shree’, ‘Nritya Vaibhav’, ‘Naatyashree’ among others. She is a recipient of National Scholarship by Govt. of India and an empaneled artist with Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Ministry of Culture. Alaknanda's biography has been published in ‘Asian Who’s Who’. She also featured in ‘Femina – Women in News’ for working against the barriers of age.
