Sri Yudhisthir Nayak was initiated in the Gotipua tradition at the age of seven. He began his training in odissi dance at the age of fifteen under the tutelage of Guru Bichitrananda Swain with the direct supervision of Guru Sri Gangadhar Pradhan. He has been awarded the senior national scholarship for young talents by the ministry of human resource development in India. He has assisted in a number of new choreographies by his Guru. He has also trained in odissi singing, odissi mardal (percussion) replicas de relojes de lujo and Chhau Dance.
He has performed in India, Canada and the US. He was a teacher-in-residence at the Center for World Music in San Diego, CA from 2005 through 2007. He is currently on tour in the US, performing as part of the Rudrakshya troupe.
